Transneft East Sums Up Implementation of Energy Saving Programme in 1H 2019

Date of publication: 29 August 2019

Transneft East has summed up the results of implementation of the energy saving programme in 1H 2019. Oil pumping process modes optimisation and other special events allowed the Company to reduce electrical energy consumption and save RUB 11 million in six months.

More than RUB 4.5 million were saved thanks to the methods for improving the technological process for the transportation of oil. A flexible mechanism for changing the algorithm of operation of supply units of mainline pump systems has been implemented; cleaning of the inner surface of pipelines and mud trap filters is carried out regularly. As a result, oil’s friction in the pipeline is reduced, as are costs of energy required for transportation.

To achieve significant savings, the method of reducing drag during oil transportation by adding drag-reducing agents to various sections of the pipeline is used.

Measures for improving energy efficiency of the process also include an additional overhaul of electric motors of mainline pumps and midlife repairs thereof.

This year, installation of LED lamps for indoor and outdoor lighting systems has been completed at all the Company's facilities. In total, more than 20 thousand lighting fixtures were replaced.

In total, since the beginning of the energy saving programme in 2011, Transneft East has achieved savings of more than RUB 669 million due to implementation of special measures.
