Transneft East Conducts Firefighting and Tactical Drill at PS

Date of publication: 03 July 2020

Transneft East has held a firefighting and tactical drill (F&TD) at Talakan PS-10 in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

According to the drill scenario, as a result of violated explosion protection of a 50,000-m3 tank at PS-10, there was a simulated ignition of oil. The “blast” destroyed the standpipe sections of the foam firefighting and water cooling inlets, which limited the ability to supply foam and water from the stationary firefighting and tank cooling system. The fire area at the time of arrival of the first fire brigade was 2,892 m2. A foam attack was launched using a foam tower and cooling was carried out using portable water cannons.

The event participants included employees of the departmental fire brigade, the voluntary fire brigade and the engineering and technical personnel of Talakan PS-10, a total of 40 people; 5 combat crews were involved.

Employees of the Transneft East business unit were successful in fulfilling the task of simulated fire elimination.

The drills were held as part of a specially developed programme of training personnel for prompt response to emergencies. The goal was to develop practical skills in the field of fire prevention and response at operating infrastructure facilities. The participants' actions and the results of the event were positively evaluated by the observers.
