Transneft East has completed works on revamping two sections of the Krasnoyarsk – Irkutsk oil trunk pipeline (OTP) in Irkutsk Region.
Scheduled works were carried out for a 1,000 mm diameter pipeline at the Nizhneudinsk – Tulun and Tulun – Kimiltey sections.
The new sections with a total length of more than 38 km were laid and welded. After completion of the construction and installation, pipeline cathodic polarisation – electrochemical protection, which increases the corrosion resistance of a metal – was carried out. Hydraulic testings and in-line inspection were carried out.
The project for reconstruction of the Krasnoyarsk – Irkutsk OTP sections is being implemented as part of the technical upgrading, development and overhaul programme at Transneft East facilities. The goal is to ensure safe operation of oil pipeline infrastructure facilities. The technical measures were carried out in accordance with regulatory rules and requirements of environmental legislation.
New sections were commissioned during the scheduled shutdown of the pipeline. Oil transportation was resumed as scheduled and is currently carried out under the standard protocol
In total, as part of the revamping of the Krasnoyarsk – Irkutsk oil trunk pipeline, more than 400 km of the line have been replaced since 2010.
